It's a shame Yamamoto was a plagiarist because those tracks were really really good. Though I feel it works better with the original DBZ than with DBZ Kai, where it was so sloppily put together because they had to rush it after Yamamoto got caught stealing. Suddenly, Vegeta senses Freeza 's return, horrifying everybody, but before the tyrant can do anything, he's suddenly bisected by a large sword. It has misfires, but it also has a lot of great stuff. Krillin brings up the American dub score by Bruce Faulconer, with Yamcha not wanting to go down into that argument again.

Is Kikuchi's soundtrack perfect? Hell no. Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods CZ Edition is a soundtrack/score edit project I decided to do after watching a few clips on YouTube of people adding in music from the Faulconer Productions (Bruce Faulconer, Julius Dobos, Budd Guin, Ben Kasparek, Scott Morgan & Mike Smith) soundtrack/score of FUNimation’s Dragon Ball Z dub to the first DBZ movie in ages, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. That and they'll never work with Faulconer again after he tried to sue them (and he lost). I'm glad Funimation has moved past replacing the entire soundtrack, leaving things as intended. Sure there are some decent tracks, but they lose merit when you learn that Faulconer didn't compose them, he took credit and it wasn't until years later we learned the real composers. The mood is always wrong, and it keeps blaring during quieter moments. I cringe every time I see a clip with the Faulconer soundtrack. Let's not forget the vocal themes composed by takeshi ike in dragon ball The only track of faulconner that i find decent is the vegeta's theme (the one with the piano)Īnyway, here's one of kikuchi's track that people often forget, it fits perfectly when piccolo sacrifice himself : i just can't like this butt rock that faulconner do.Īs for kai/super soundtrack, i'm not a big fan either, there's some good one here and there but i mostly didn't liked it, still better than faulconner though. and it's not even the best anime soundtrack of that time, i'm just comparing the two. I grew up with the kikuchi one, and like everyone else, regardless of what you grew up with, i'm tied to nostalgia, so i don't judge other people tastes, it's all subjective in the end.īut as an adult i see everything with a different eye now, a lot of things i liked as a kid i find it bad now.Īs for faulconner vs kikuchi, there's absolutely no doubt, kikuchi destroys it IMO. Faulconner always sounded like trash to me
